26-28th September, 2003 - Viaduct Basin, AucklandThundercats at Radio Sport Expo When it was not raining it was either starting to or just stopping. This was the first chance we've had to use our new club tent so Rod and I put it up Thursday morning in the rain. Who said blokes can’t read instructions? - we got it up first try. As soon as we were all set up the organizers asked us to move it 3mtrs to the left so we were fast becoming experts at tent erection. Thankfully the wind did not blow until the day after the show or it might have been a disaster! The great thing was we promoted our sport with a lot of interest shown by the public. Several demos gave the locals and visitors a first time look at the sport in the flesh and I was able to promote boat sponsors over the show's sound system.
One of our objectives was to obtain leads for club sponsorship and several contacts have been made, now the hard work of qualifying these prospects begins. Any members with contacts they would like to share with regards to sponsorship please call me as we need to find major and minor sponsors for televising our up coming National Championships. A big thank you to all the boats who came out to play in the rain, it looks like we are going to have a big year ahead of us with lots of new boats and crews as well as the old hands dusting off their gear ready for the summer.
