November 22nd, 2003Waipu Cove, NorthlandNo Surf! Bugger! However, it was a nice sunny day on the beach. The waves would have been half a meter at most with wind 25-30km per hour offshore.
The RD (yours truly) had an easy day with 20 well behaved crews. Not a single flip all day, although one or two tried. Mustangs did a tail-walk for 20mtrs before they got the boat back under control. Tongan Express have found the “Rogue Wave” James (Signtech) owned last year. It caught them three times on the same day, twice at 'D' buoy and once at 'C' buoy causing the co-driver to fall out. A hundred dollar reward for any information on Waz and Flash's new prop - it must have an extra blade that gives it that last kick at the end of a long strait. It was just as well the course was not any longer or they would have been lapping tail enders.
The club is still looking for TV sponsors so if anyone can help let me know as time is running short. Thanks to all our helpers - the silent minority that help keep the sport alive and growing. Let’s all look forward to a great National Championships.
