Gravity Games Report
www.gravitygamesh2o.com
The
Gravity Games was and indeed is a huge success and a real bonus to the
sport of Thundercat Racing.
55000
people watched the racing at the Swan River in Perth WA and enjoyed the
high speed trills and excitement of some of the worlds top extreme sport
athletes.
Wake
boarding and kite surfing provided the entertainment alongside the high
adrenaline sport of Freestyle Thundercat Racing. These small inflatable
boats raced around the tight Swan river course at great speed and with a
degree of daring not seen at this event before.
Day 1
saw the Thundercats take on the Long Haul discipline. This long distance
event punishes all the competitors and the rough weather saw the boats
abd crews punished and the event get even more difficult.
The
result was amazing, a dead heat after 2 hours in the water

Children’s charity Camp Quality is set to
play a very special role in this year’s event, as the official charity
beneficiary of Gravity Games H2O. On the first afternoon 20 of the
children, as winners of a ‘survivor challenge’, took the ride of their
lives up the Swan River in 10 high-speed Thundercat powerboats.
Day 2
The nail-bitingly sharp turns around a
floating racecourse saw a colossal clash between two competitors’ boats
mid-way through the first race. Heritage Tiles (NZ) and Alarm 1 (AU)
had a numbing collision causing mayhem for the rest of the field.
Dave Blackford the driver of Heritage
returned his boat to the pits , affected repairs and returned to win the
next race.
Reaction Screen Print, More FM and
Hydraulink Racing all from NZ were becoming the leading contenders and
appeared to have a turn of speed on the rest of the field
A couple of bad starts and subsequent results from Thundercat racing UK
and Quicken dropped them down the points table to be in the middle of
the Australian team.
Results below are the cumulative total
from the two opening rounds.
55 points Reaction, NZ
48 points Hydraulink, NZ

Day 3
The racing during rounds three ands four
was exceptionally competitive with many boats showing the signs of
battle on return to the pit area.
The tight course kept the boats bunched
and the drivers of all the boats gave and expected no quarter.
The big mover on day 3 was Quicken NZ.
Having sorted out the starts Quicken achieved 2 firsts, 1 third and a
fifth to move into the top 7 making the final elimination event.
Skilled and non compromising racing by
the NZ team saw the entire team into the final.
