Takapuna to Mangawhai Endurance Race (100kms)

Despite conditions appearing calm at the start they were far from it. A messy south easterly swell of 1-2 metres made racing uncomfortable for all competitors. As they traveled further north up the coast the swell size increased as did the level of pain inflicted on each racer. Despite the lead changing many times it was Plumbquick who crossed the finish line first followed by rookies Novo Engineering whose fuel ran out in the surf line only metres from the finish. They managed to salvage sufficient from the bottom of the tank to reach shore just ahead of 3rd place Fusion.

So close was the racing that the first 10 boats finished within 7 minutes of each other. Only Kiwi Safety did not make the finish, requiring a tow after gearbox problems.

The Sunday surfcross was cancelled due to 40kn North easterlies and rain pounding the beach. Since most racers were still sore from Saturday there were no objections
