Have-a-go-day. Petone. Wellington.

Wellington turned on yet another fantastic day for our second club day. Petone Extreme was an event organised by TRANZ to support the Project K youth foundation. We wanted to show PK a great time whilst also raising the profile of our sport in WGTN. Thanx to the huge efforts from Michelle, Reece & Vinnie (Team Demon) we organised not just Thundercat Racing but Jet Ski Racing, a strongman competition, Demon Energy Gladiators, Fire truck rides and the youth from PK had a free all access pass to participate in any of the activities. We also allowed members of the public to participate for a gold coin donation to PK.

With just under 2000 spectators throughout the day and almost 200 rides in a Thundercat we had an overwhelming response. Despite the Queues to get on boats which were at times up to 30min everyone had a great time and thanks to the Demon Gladiators and Strongman comp there was never a dull moment. Seeing a strong man compete in a tug of war against 6 kids is really quite a sight, almost as fun as watching 4 Demon girls try and pull a fire truck!

We raised money, showed PK a great time, raised our profile and did so without incident making this a stand out event for the WGTN club and one that we hope to repeat. Thanks to the 71 racers, volunteers, sponsors and PK youth that made the day run so well. You all did an awesome job and did it with a smile!

Lastly their were a number of volunteers and mates of volunteers who were hoping to get ride but were unable to due to the queues. We will reserve an hour at the end of our WGTN Cup Day event on 15th November and welcome you to come along and go for a ride.
