CUP DAY- November 2008
Tahiti Dark Rum – 1st place trophy winners at Wellington Cup Day. High winds and
a messy surf presented an entertaining challenge for the first ever Cup Day on
Sat. The conditions did cause carnage for Aquarius Red who took home the flipper
award for capsizing round D buoy. The boys from Get Funked took home the snorkel
award as twice during racing not just one of them but both pilot and co-pilot
exited their boat simultaneously and went swimming, must have been a snake in
the boat??
Overall this was Wellington’s most successful day yet with a good turn out of
boats, some really competitive racing right through the field and thanks to our
RD and her marshals everything ran smoothly. Well done to all involved, if we
can keep this momentum going then we will be throwing out the Wellington vs
Auckland teams Challenge sooner than you might think!
