Rounds 3 & 4

12th - 14th JUNE 2020

Clevedon won the award for the 2016 Top ThunderCat Venue for its friendly and positive pro-active approach, hosting and sponsoring ThunderCat Racing for the first time.  So for 2020 following a gap of two years we are expecting bigger and better from North Somerset,

Clevedon is a beautiful Victorian seaside town overlooking the Severn Estuary. The town, by Junction 20 of the M5, is just 13 miles from Bristol and 10 miles from Weston-Super-Mare with good public bus links to both major towns. Popular features include Clevedon Pier, a grade 1 listed building.

To race at high tide timings will be tight on both Saturday and Sunday.  For further details and timing please download the Race Instructions to find out what's happening!  The best viewing area is between the Band Stand and Clevedon Pier.  Please be aware there is a road closure on Beach Road (the road by the Pier) as our Pit area is located there. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Our ThunderCat pit area will be based on the sea front between the Sailing Club and the pier. The coastal line gives an amazing amphitheatre and backdrop to the race course. Enjoy the marine lake, ornamental gardens and Victorian bandstand whilst strolling along the promenade, tasting the scrumptious fish & chips and finish with an ice-cream.

Next to the Marine Lake is the Salthouse Field with a light railway running around the perimeter and a nearby mini-golf centre. All of which are a hit for families with young children.

There are a selection of stylish cafes and restaurants situated next to Clevedon Pier, to sit back and take in the fantastic scenery. The town is also home to the Curzon cinema which is the oldest purpose built cinema in the world which is still in working order. This is a unique experience which will truly take you back in time. Hill Road offers a selection of unique and quirky locally owned shops for an afternoon of tea and browsing the shops just a 10 minute walk from the Pier. Whilst The Triangle, centred around a Victorian Clock Tower in the centre of Clevedon offers well known shopping chains and supermarkets.

Calling all photographers get your camera at the ready for some big air shots (oh and don’t forget to upload them to our Facebook page for your chance to win “The Annual Photographer of the Year award”)

Are you a local company wanting to get involved in the event? its never to late! Please email to discuss event sponsorship opportunities.
