ThunderCat Racing Championship, Fistral Beach Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th May 2016

Fistral Beach will host Rounds 3 & 4 of the ThunderCat Racing Championship, 20+ teams will be descending on Friday 13th May into a purpose built, beach pit area.

British Racers including two world champions, will battle it out, on a close to shore, m-shape course, intertwined with the world famous waves of Fistral. You can expect the 4m inflatable boats to be hitting the white crests and reach heights of 20+ ft in the air... a spectacle you will not see in any other motorsport. A total of 6 heats and 2 finals a day, with the winners being crowned King or Queen of the surf!

Spectators will be able to interact with the teams, grab some Instagram shots, whilst listening to commentary from Newquay’s Anton Roberts updating all, with who’s who and most importantly where the action is going to be, so as not to miss any of the thrills and spills! Official practice will commence from 11.30 and racing starts from midday on Saturday the 14th and Sunday 15th May.

From their wild beginnings in South Africa’s white water rapids to its growth in well over 18 countries, ThunderCat Racing has always been about making a spectacular sport accessible to anyone and everyone! From recovering volunteers to injured service men, the sport’s equality manager and race director Fiona Pascoe stated: ‘Everyone is so excited to be going back to Newquay, UK’s surf hub. Together with Microlink our series sponsor, we have upped our game for 2016 bringing a new safety infrastructure as well as a larger event.”

Fistral Beach complex hosts world-renowned events each year and we are super privileged to be racing here. Their support along Newquay Bid’s awareness of the economic impact local events have on the town has meant the nationwide tour can return for yet another year. The Fistral Beach complex has unique vantage points to watch the racing from either The Stables Restaurant or the Fistral Beach Bar balcony itself.
