ThunderCat Racing Returns to Clevedon

Clevedon’s seafront reverberated with the sound of powerboat engines when ThunderCat Racing UK took Rounds 9 & 10 of its RYA National Championship to the town for the second time, following the success of last year’s event. The weather held up and the only major difficulty for the weekend was a fast receding tide which curtailed the amount of time there was to race.

Crowds gathered along the seafront to watch all the boats go head to head in a battle over the two days of racing. The best views of the action could be seen from Clevedon Pier, which also put on live music and children’s entertainment for visitors.

A special thank you to the local organiser, Paul Anslow for making this event happen and to the local businesses who also sponsored the event including Triangle Networks, Clevedon Hall and Walton Castle. A major thank you to Commodore Sarah Hotchkiss and everyone at Clevedon Sailing Club for their hospitality and assistance.

As to the racing, round 9 saw Magor Racing come out on top in Prostock closely followed by Gemini Marine UK and Multispark Racing. Round 10 saw the tables turned with Multispark Racing dominating followed by Nationwide Assistance Group in 2nd place. In the modified section, Broad Bean won both rounds.

So going into the final rounds at Perranporth, Magor Racing are in a strong lead and in the modified championship, it couldn’t be any closer with just 3 points separating the top 3 teams.

The culmination of the season takes place on the 30th September and 1st October 2017 at Perranporth beach. For more details, visit the race page at
