Driver info : demelza johns

Demelza Johns is 33 years young, born in Cornwall where she grew up. Joined the army at the first opportunity. This brought her to Yorkshire to do her vehicle training. Demelza left the army to raise her two boys, Cameron and Logan and has now trained as a nurse and is working in a local hospital. Demelza is engaged to Matthew and they live in East Yorkshire. Between them they have 4 boys, 4 cats and two deaf dalmatians, Dante and Chester who attend all the racing that they're able to!

Demelza enjoys reading and sports. She is a keen jogger and attends the local gym, playing a variety of racquet sports. Demelza first heard about ThunderCats through her brother, Simon. He told her about the opportunity for a women’s team. Demelza leapt at the chance and took to the sport like the preverbal duck to water.

Even though Demelza has had highs and lows through her first season. Demelza's team finished an brilliant 9th in the RYA ThunderCat National Championships & Demelza achieved 11th in the driver's standings table. The high point being long haul racing which she found suited her perfectly. The low would have to be having to miss a race due to injury. The cause was due to a stiff dampening arm on the boat which is now sorted.

During 2015 this lovely ladies team pairing saw the team reach 19th in the 2015 Championship, which was fabulous because due to injury and boat problems, they were unable to race in the last 3 events of the season.

Demelza continued racing when and where possible during 2015, jumping in as a co-driver and enjoyed some fantastic racing for the remainder of the season.

Co-driver info : tracy robinson

Tracy Robinson is 41 years young, born in Stoke-on-Trent where she grew up, her parents owned a speed boat which Tracy grew up being out on at every opportunity. She studied catering at college before joining the Royal Navy and furthering her experience and love of powerboats with the RIB’s that are used by the Navy.

Tracy is currently employed as a paramedic in the East Yorkshire region which she finds rewarding and challenging. In her spare time she is the team medic for the Hull Stingrays professional Ice Hockey team.

Tracy is married to Andy; they have two children and live in East Yorkshire 15 minutes from the nearest beach and their open water launch site.

Tracy is a keen road cyclist and mountain biker as well as following the professional peleton as a spectator (and avid BMC fan). She is a self confessed adrenaline junkie who would ride roller coasters until the cows got home, had tea and then got bored waiting!

When Demelza first mentioned the idea of teaming up in the ThunderCat Series Tracy was smitten and accepted the challenge in an instant! This season she is determined that, as a team, they won’t just be making up the numbers. She wants to be taking points, looking at podiums and making the men look over their shoulders all season long.

2015 started off as a fabulous season for Tracy and she took to this adrenlin action packed water sport without looking back.  Tracy achieved 23rd position in the co-driver league table after unfortunately only being able to compete in 5 rounds during the season.
