Driver info : SIMON MATTHEWS
Simon is born and breed in Southsea. Simon had been in and on the water before he was at the age of one. By the time he was 8 he was sailing as part of the National Squad. His sailing career peaked in 2003 when he was part of the Olympic development squad for the Sydney Olympics. This was his turning point to powerboat racing. He bought a Gemini and started racing. He is a helmsman for the RNLI and has been doing this for 13 yrs based out of Portsmouth lifeboat station. He was awarded the Queens Jubilee Medal for his services to RNLI. He is also a Sail maker and the owner of Sail Style Sailmakers based in Hayling Island.
Simon joined ThunderCat Racing in 2015 and was placed 8th in the Driver Championship. At the end of the season the team travelled to Malta to represent GB at the World Championships where the team were placed 5th overall in the Stock class. A fabulous result, well done guys.
Look forward to seeing the team in action again in the 2016 season.
