Go West! - Watergate Bay - King of the Surf Championship

Rounds three and four of the 2015 RYA P750 ThunderCat British Championship

The ThunderCat Racing circus moves on to the West Country this weekend (09-10 May) for rounds three and four of the 2015 RYA P750 ThunderCat British Championship.

The event, to be run in Watergate Bay, on the North Cornwall coast will be the first of three weekend's hitting Cornish shores this year that will not only count towards the 2015 RYA Championship but a new new ‘King Of The Surf Championship’ series.

The fledgling Championship starting this weekend, will enjoy its second event at Fistral Beach on 30 - 31 May with the final at Tolcarne Beach on the 18 - 19 of September.

The winner of the King Of The Surf Championship will have have accumulated the most points over the three events raced in Cornwall, with the point system identical to that used in the 2015 RYA British ThunderCat Championship.

ThunderCat Racing organiser Fiona Pascoe said: "It is a great opportunity for the ThunderCat Surf specialists to compete over the three Cornish events and see just who is "King Of The Surf", although with the amount of female racers we have we may just have a Queen of the surf!"

One racing surf expert that will be competing at the weekend is South African Sean Fisher, the 2013 ThunderCat World Champion. "I can't wait for the weekend, the competition looks tough, I thank Grant Harrison and Team Bobkat – Moku Racing for giving me the equipment to challenge for this series”, commented Fisher.

With an exceptional opening start to the season for the RYA P750 ThunderCat British Championship held at Boscombe last month, the focus was on the battle between a former three time champion James Tapp and 2014 Champion Bligh Julius.

This weekend Julius will be missing due to a work commitment, the focus will be on the 19 ThunderCat Racing entrants who brave it through the surf to add points to their RYA British Championship score and with those points they know that they could be crowned as King or Queen of the Surf in September.
