Following on from the success of last year, ThunderCat Racing is set to make a spectacular return to Southsea beach next to Castle Field, Portsmouth on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July.
The ThunderCat race village based on Castle Field is working in partnership with the event sponsor Team Britannia, who have teamed up with some of the city’s best-known companies to provide a free fun family weekend with music, kids entertainment, food stalls and excitement.
Described as 'the world’s toughest and most breath-taking extreme watersport', ThunderCat Racing UK will be bringing their high-octane race Series to the Solent. The hardy competitors will be competing for Rounds 7 and 8 of the 2016 Microlink ThunderCat Racing Championship.
Portsmouth's Alan Priddy heads up Team Britannia, a multi-million pound British bid to design and build the fastest and most fuel-efficient wave-slicing powerboat to circumnavigate the globe in record time, he said, 'It's great to back a local event, not only will there be the best of the best sportsmen battling on the water, there will be something for all the family, children's rides, local bands, a Motorbike stunt show and Classic Cars'.
Microlink PC UK Ltd, the ThunderCat Championship sponsor are world leaders in assessment, technology and support for learning difficulties, disabilities and mental health, providing services to the largest employers in the UK. Vee Ganjavian Microlink co-founder told us, 'It's great to be involved with this sport, it's tough and inclusive at the same time. We have former soldiers racing that lost limbs in combat, an all lady team and some super athletes amongst the expected 24 teams. We will be showcasing some of our tools and services available, that enable employees to overcome physical and mental barriers that really impact their working life'.
