The Royal Yachting Association is the national body for all forms of boating including powerboat racing. Its role over the last few years has changed with a new pivotal position in developing advanced training programmes for racing whether ‘on the water’ for competitors or ‘inland’ for race officials.
This new focus involves increasing importance on training, examinations and ongoing development programmes ensuring that the correct regulations and infrastructure are in place to ensure that everything is run professionally and to the ultimate safety for all volunteers and participants.
Fiona Pascoe, Director of ThunderCat Racing UK said, ‘As a responsible, forward thinking racing organisation we believe it is essential to have a governing body whether nationally through the RYA or internationally through the UIM. We work closely with both organisations so that issues that our community face are understood and vice versa. Hopefully walking hand in hand will provide unity of strength, clarity and ultimately safe racing.’
