If you wanted to see an example of what makes ThunderCat Racing such a unique and exhilarating sport, there was no better example than the rescheduled Watergate Bay event held on the 19th and 20th November 2016.

Having postponed the racing weekend from September due to unsafe weather conditions, the ThunderCat Racing Management team made the bold decision to hold the rescheduled rounds in November when the weather is traditionally much colder and the sea rougher…even by Watergate Bay standards.
With cold temperatures, the ThunderCat Racing teams took the conditions in their stride and each put on a fantastic performance of skill and determination in which were challenging conditions. Under such spectacular surf conditions, a number of boats went flying off huge waves, awesome photos and video footage.
The culmination of these final rounds saw Rob Davies and Darren Phillips from Microlink - Ahmad Tea crowned as the 2016 Microlink ThunderCat Racing Champions. In only their second year of racing, the team faced stiff competition from both the Multispark Racing teams all season. Going into the final round, the duo held a slender 2 point lead over their close rivals. The fourth heat of the day ensured their Championship. Gary Tolman and Scott Brown pushed Multispark Racing 61 to the limit and beyond in pursuit of points which were their undoing as they were both ejected from their Aquarius hull. Simon Matthews and Martin Jerome of Seavacation Team secured bronze in the final championship standings.
On one of the worst weekends for weather in Britain this year, it showed again what a remarkable sport ThunderCat Racing is. Congratulations to everyone that took part, great to see Moku Racing’s team – Evolution 5 secure 1st place podium positions on both days.
