The Importance of Theory & Practical Training in ThunderCat Racing

February 20, 2017

We have two important events lined up on the 4th - 5th March and 1st - 2nd April 2017 for those competing in this seasons ThunderCat Racing series.  Our Theory and Practical Training sessions form an important part of the preparation for the oncoming series ensuring that everyone involved either on or off the water, racing or officiating has the correct training and is fully prepared.   Both weekend events will be held at both ThunderCat HQ and Hamble.

Over the last few years ThunderCat Racing has worked closely with the UIM (International governing body) and RYA (National Governing Body) in developing a comprehensive training program. The UIM’s  ‘Propstars’ program will be carried out under the new Charity Umbrella ‘TRUE’ Foundation (ThunderCat Racing Uniting Everyone), ‘Education’ alongside ‘Community’ and ‘Recovery through Sport’ projects.

Our 2017 novice teams will be taught the syllabus covering all aspects of racing from administration documents, correct safety equipment to racing lines and surf analysing. Each team member will partake in a range of theory subjects before hitting the water with a race instructor. The weekend will also provide an opportunity for existing teams to get on the water, helping our newcomers and refreshing their driving ability on a purpose laid course under the strict safety of ThunderCat Racing officials.

If you are still interested in taking part as a competitor in our championships this year, it’s not too late.  You can either contact Fiona, James or Tracey in the office.  Alternatively if you want to get involved as a volunteer, please contact them.

Look forward to seeing you at the start of March.
